You have nothing to prove
You are worthy of love right where you are.
Picture yourself standing in the presence of Jesus. Are you able to look him in the eye whilst He tells you that you’re his favourite, whilst he goes into detail on all the reasons why He loves you so so much. Can you take what Jesus is saying and believe it with your whole heart?
If you struggle with this, ask yourself why. What do you believe about yourself that makes you unable to look into the eyes of the one who died for you and believe He loves you completely as you are right now. Whatever it is that comes up for you is something that Jesus can set you free from.
I have struggled all my 42 years to believe that anyone could love me or that anyone would genuinely want to spend time with me just for being me without it being a way to get their own needs met.
We look to the outside world to meet our most basic need of being loved and it is not another person’s responsibility. Looking to others in this way will never fully satisfy. We need to go to God and have the Holy Spirit teach us how loved we are. We need to learn to love ourselves and accept ourselves based on who God says we are. When this happens the right people will come alongside us and prove to us how worthy we have always been.
Let me ask you a couple of questions:
Do you believe you are saved?
How do you know this?
If you are 100% convinced that you are saved, you believed in the Word of God and know this to be true from the moment you asked Jesus to come into your heart. So why when you see it written in the Word of God that you are loved and chosen is it so difficult to be 100% convinced of this.
Our unresolved trauma is held in our bodies and we can have an automatic nervous system response when triggered. We maybe don’t realise the negative core beliefs we carry around on the inside of us and how they are affecting our current relationships.
I found it very helpful studying what God says about me and repeating this over myself until I could accept it into my heart. This is all part of the renewing of our mind. Make no mistake, once you give your life to Jesus you become a target for the enemy. The best way to protect yourself is with the armour of God (Ephesians 6:11) and a mind renewed to the Word of God so when thoughts of unworthiness or unlovable come to mind, you can immediately tear them down with the Word of God before they even have a chance to take root. It’s hard work and it takes commitment and perseverance but the rewards are more than worth it! You are loved and you are worthy. Amen.
